Blain LaBranche

Early Life

Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Blain began playing basketball at the age of twelve. He attended Britannia Junior high school, where he made the senior basketball team all three years. He then attended Jasper place high school, where he was the only 10th grader to make a very talented senior team. In his senior year at Jasper place, Blain led the team in scoring, assists and rebounds. He was able to represent his province and finished 2nd in the country at the national tournament. After a successful showing he was selected as one of the top 50 players in Canada to attend the Nike All- Canada camp. After graduating from Jasper place, Blain was recruited to play for Brandon university and was named on the 1st team all-rookie.

University

Blain returned to Edmonton and attended Grant Macewan University and led the team in scoring, assists, rebounds and 2nd in the ACAC in scoring. Blain was then recruited by many universities, and decided to attend the University of British Columbia. In his three years at UBC the team won 1 Canada west title and were 2 time national silver medalists. Blain finished his playing Career spending time in China, Mexico and on the IBL Edmonton Energy.

Starting Enhance Basketball Academy

Settled now back in Edmonton with his wife and two sons, Blain saw the need to establish a basketball program where young players could be instructed and guided by an experienced player. Blain’s background, knowledge and passion for the game of basketball is what sets Enhance Basketball Academy apart. Blain ensures that Players perfect the fundamentals, and gain the knowledge as to when, why, and how to incorporate specific drills during real game situations.

In just 3 short years Enhance Basketball Academy has help lead the 2015 NAIT men’s basketball team to provincial and National championships, provided training to the University of Alberta’s women’s basketball team, lead a successful skill development camp in the Bahamas, and help lead three basketball camps for nike.

In addition to running Enhance Basketball Academy, Blain created Urban Hoops. A 2 day annual  camp for inner city youth, were kids receive basketballs, clothing, food, gifts and prizes all free of charge.
